About Us

Hello! My name is Willy Taylor.

I'm a private collector with a long-standing interest in original military artefacts, not as objects of spectacle, but as physical evidence of history. What draws me in isn't rarity alone, but detail. I remember what first sparked my interest, and it was a Victory Medal. I remember flipping it around in my hand and comparing it to the grainy reference photo it came with. I thought it was awesome!

I've since spent years handling, researching, and comparing original pieces, learning to read the small signs that separate authenticity from imitation.

Over time, the collection outgrew what one person could reasonably manage (my wife also didn't quite like the clutter), and so with the support of my son, and the help of a small group of wonderful and trusted staff, Taylor's Militaria became a store.

Why I Started

The idea for Taylor's Militaria also came from repeatedly seeing original pieces misidentified, stripped of their context, or presented without care. Too often, artefacts were reduced to price tags, their history flattened or ignored entirely.

I wanted to do things properly, to slow the process down and treat each item as something worth understanding before it's passed on. Not everything belongs in a collection forever, but everything deserved to be handled responsibly while it's here.

This store exists to preserve what remains, to be honest about what is known and unkown, and to place original artefacts into the hands of people who will respect them as custodians of history.
