Original tropical German DAK webbing equipment strap, clearly dated 1942 on the leather tongue. Constructed from tan canvas with a steel friction buckle and reinforced leather fittings, this strap was used on a variety of Afrika Korps field gear including rucksacks, A-frames, and equipment pouches. A solid, untouched example of tropical field gear.
Tropical webbing straps such as this were standard issue to German forces deployed in the North African campaign from 1941–1943. Due to harsh desert conditions, tropical equipment was made from canvas and lighter materials rather than standard European leather. These straps were multipurpose—commonly used for fastening gear to backpacks, securing rolled zeltbahns, or attaching equipment to the Y-straps. Surviving dated examples remain desirable due to heavy wear and climate deterioration in the field.
This strap remains in good original condition, showing expected service wear, some patina to the steel buckle, and age-related darkening to the leather, with stitching intact and the 1942 date stamp clearly legible.
