Original matched pair of German Army officer’s shoulder boards for a Hauptmann (Captain) in the medical service. Constructed with silver/aluminium braid over dark blue wool backing, featuring two silver rank pips and the Rod of Asclepius branch insignia denoting medical personnel. These are the strap-on type boards, designed for quick attachment to a tunic or greatcoat, and come complete with a pair of original domed aluminium buttons for display.
These shoulder boards identified officers serving within the Heer Medical Corps, responsible for the care and evacuation of wounded soldiers, medical logistics, and field hospital coordination. The medical branch was denoted by dark blue Waffenfarbe and the serpent staff insignia, a universal symbol of medicine.
Good, complete pair with some minor moth nips and light sun fading to the wool backing. Silver braid retains strong colour and definition.
