Original matched set of WWII German Army Oberleutnant insignia belonging to a medical officer of the Truppen-Sanitätsdienst (Army Medical Service). The set includes a pair of silver bullion officer shoulder boards with dark blue Waffenfarbe backing and a single rank pip, each fitted with the gilt medical caduceus device. Also included is a matching pair of officer collar tabs featuring blue litzen on a field-grey base.
Medical officers of the Wehrmacht served within the Heer Sanitätsdienst and were responsible for battlefield medical care, casualty evacuation, and the operation of field hospitals supporting front-line combat units. Officers assigned to the Truppen-Sanitätsdienst were attached directly to army formations and played a critical role in maintaining the fighting strength of the Wehrmacht.
The dark blue Waffenfarbe identified personnel of the German Army medical branch, while the caduceus insignia signified their role as trained military physicians or medical officers.
Good used condition with light age wear. The shoulder boards retain their original bullion construction with intact medical devices and rank pips. The collar tabs show expected period wear and some edge fraying consistent with service use. Colour remains well preserved.
