Original WW2-period German black leather mapcase as issued to Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS personnel. These mapcases were essential field items, used by officers, NCOs, and specialists to carry maps, documents, pencils, and navigation tools while on operations.
Leather mapcases were a standard piece of German field equipment throughout the Second World War, particularly among command and reconnaissance personnel. Worn on the belt, they allowed quick access to maps during movement and combat. Black leather examples are most commonly associated with early to mid-war issue and were used across multiple branches of service, including the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS.
The mapcase remains in good overall condition, showing expected period wear consistent with field use. Leather is intact with natural creasing and surface wear from age. Complete with its original belt loops on the reverse. Interior compartments remain well defined, and stitching is sound throughout.
