Unfortunately this item is sold-out!

Original brown leather German map case dated 1937. Constructed from high-quality pebble-grain leather with full internal dividers, pencil sleeves, and rear belt loops. This example features a hand-written name inside the front flap, “Sgt Rudder,” almost certainly the name of the Allied soldier who captured and brought this case home. The leather remains soft and flexible throughout, presenting extremely well for display.

Historical Context

German map cases were standard equipment for officers, NCOs, and signal troops throughout the war, designed to organise maps, pencils, rulers, and operational documents. Early pre-war examples like this 1937 model were produced with higher-quality leather and stronger stitching than later wartime versions. Named examples are especially desirable, as inscriptions such as “Sgt Rudder” typically indicate an Allied soldier marking a captured souvenir, adding an appealing bring-back element to the piece.

Condition

Overall good condition with soft and pliable leather. Wear consistent with age and service use, including edge wear and light surface marks. Internal naming clearly visible. All straps intact and functional.

ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED ORIGINAL PERIOD PIECES.
