Original German Army Field Police (Feldgendarmerie) breadbag complete with its matching shoulder strap. Constructed from blue-grey canvas with black leather reinforcements and aluminium fittings, this example retains all buttons and D-rings intact. A faint maker’s stamp is visible beneath the inner flap. These breadbags were standard issue for field police and other service branches, often used to carry rations, cleaning kits, or small personal items in the field.
Breadbags like this were essential daily equipment for German troops. The Feldgendarmerie, or Field Police, served as military law enforcement and traffic control within the Wehrmacht. Their gear mirrored that of standard infantry but was sometimes produced in unique shades or materials, such as the blue-grey seen here. This bag’s features and early-quality materials are consistent with mid-war production (1942–1943) before material conservation simplified construction in later years.
Good used condition with light surface wear and small stains from field use. All buttons and fittings are present and functional. Leather components remain supple with minor ageing. A strong, display-worthy example of an authentic Feldgendarmerie-issued breadbag.
