Original WWII German MG13 machine gun spare barrel case, constructed from heavy-gauge steel and finished in field grey paint. This cylindrical carrier was designed to house a single replacement barrel for the MG13 light machine gun, one of Germany’s early interwar and WWII-era support weapons.
The case retains its original wartime web strap and leather pull tabs, showing classic period craftsmanship with reinforced stitching and riveted fittings. The exterior is marked “B32”, likely a unit or rack identification marking. The original paint remains mostly intact, with only minor surface oxidation and wear consistent with age and service.
The MG13 was adopted by the Reichswehr in the early 1930s and saw combat use during the early years of WWII, before being replaced by the MG34. Accessories like this barrel carrier were vital for sustained fire operations, as barrels had to be changed regularly during prolonged use to prevent overheating. Early pattern carriers such as this example were later adapted for MG34 field use by second-line or training units.
Good overall condition. Retains the majority of original paint with light patina and scattered surface wear. Leather fittings remain supple with visible wartime stitching. Strap fully intact and functional.
