INCREDIBLE Original WW2 German Army Pioniertruppen 3kg demolition charge case. This example has been completely inert for decades and has been professionally restored with correct wartime-style stencilling and replacement plug covers. Welded permanently shut for safety, it displays exceptionally well. Recently sourced from a museum collection in Norway, this is a rare and desirable demolition-related artefact in unusually good condition.

Historical Context

German Pionier troops (combat engineers) were responsible for bridge building, field fortification, mine warfare, and controlled demolitions. Standard explosive charges—such as the 3kg block—were issued in metal cases like this example. They were used for bunker destruction, bridge sabotage, obstacle clearance, and defensive preparations.

The 3kg demolition charge was one of the most versatile in the German engineer arsenal. Its robust metal case protected the filler, ensured consistent detonation characteristics, and allowed engineers to affix it directly to structural targets using wire, straps, or wooden stakes. Surviving examples are scarce due to wartime use and post-war destruction of explosive materials.

Condition

The case remains solid with light surface wear from age and handling. Restoration work includes correct stencilling and replacement plug covers. The base is welded shut for safety. Overall, it displays very well with strong colour and no major damage.
