INCREDIBLE Original early-war German Schneetarn white snow smock, issued for extreme winter conditions and worn over the greatcoat to provide camouflage in snow-covered environments. A scarce and desirable winter combat garment, most closely associated with the first winter of the Eastern Front campaign in late 1941.

Historical Context

These snow smocks were issued in limited numbers during the early phases of the Eastern Front campaign, particularly during the brutal winter of 1941–42. Designed to be worn over standard field uniforms and greatcoats, they allowed soldiers to retain full combat equipment while remaining camouflaged in snow-covered terrain. Surviving examples are uncommon due to limited manufacture and heavy field use, making original examples highly sought after by collectors and militaria displays depicting Leningrad or Stalingrad winter scenes.

Condition

Good original condition overall. Displays honest period wear and light staining consistent with field use. Stitch lines remain on both upper sleeves where Luftwaffe rank insignia were removed. No major damage or structural issues. Fabric remains strong throughout.

ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED ORIGINAL PERIOD PIECES.
