Original 1920s German “Volkfest Rosenheim” day badge, issued for a regional athletic and cultural festival in the Bavarian town of Rosenheim. This finely detailed pressed metal badge depicts a sprinter at the starting line, with flags and event buildings in the background — symbolising the spirit of sport and community that characterised interwar German Volksfeste (people’s festivals).

Historical Context

Volksfeste were major social events in Germany during the Weimar era, combining athletic competitions, parades, and community celebrations. Rosenheim, located in Upper Bavaria, hosted regular sports festivals that reflected Germany’s national focus on physical fitness and unity between the wars. Collectors today value such early badges for their connection to regional identity, craftsmanship, and the emerging nationalist athletic culture of pre-1933 Germany.

Condition

Good overall condition for age, with light wear and darkened patina. Minor oxidation and edge wear consistent with early zinc construction. Pin fitting remains intact and functional.
