Unfortunately this item is sold-out!

Original German Wehrmacht Jäger Sleeve Patch, worn by members of the elite Jäger (light infantry) units of the Heer. This example was removed directly from a wartime uniform, retaining its original cut edges and field use patina.

The patch features a machine-embroidered oak leaf cluster, finely executed in green and silver-grey thread on a dark bottle-green wool backing — the traditional branch colour of German Jäger and Gebirgsjäger (mountain infantry) troops.

Historical Context

The Jäger troops originated from traditional German light infantry regiments and carried their elite designation throughout WWII. They fought in key campaigns across Europe — including the Balkans, Eastern Front, and Italy — often alongside Gebirgsjäger and Fallschirmjäger units in mixed operations. Their oak-leaf insignia symbolised sharpness, resilience, and connection to nature, aligning with their doctrine of rapid, independent field operations.

Jäger formations were highly trained light infantry marksmen, specialised in reconnaissance, skirmishing, and operations in rough or wooded terrain. Their role required mobility, marksmanship, and tactical initiative, setting them apart from regular infantry formations.

Condition

Excellent uniform-removed condition, showing authentic field wear and intact embroidery. The wool backing remains strong with minimal fraying. Colours are well-preserved, with bright contrast in the leaf stitching.
