Original BeVo-woven DRA Sports Badge in bronze grade, designed for wear on sports and training jackets. Features the interwoven “DRA” (Deutscher Reichsausschuss für Leibesübungen) monogram surrounded by an oak leaf wreath, all finely machine-embroidered in golden thread on black cloth backing.
This version predates the reorganisation of the award into the DRL (Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen) in 1937, making it an early pre-war example.
The DRA Sports Badge was first introduced in 1913 to encourage physical fitness among German citizens. It was later adopted and restructured under the Third Reich as the DRL Sports Badge in 1937, incorporating the swastika into the design. The pre-war DRA version, such as this example, represents the original non-political form of the award and is increasingly scarce in unissued condition.
Excellent, unissued example with bright gilt threading and tight BeVo weave. No damage or fraying.
