These notes circulated during the transition from peacetime prosperity to wartime inflation. The Darlehnskassenscheine (“loan banknotes”) were emergency issues produced by the Reich Treasury to fund the early stages of WWI, making them an important reflection of Germany’s shifting wartime economy.
All examples are circulated with expected creasing and wear but remain fully legible and display excellent character. A complete and visually impressive snapshot of Germany’s wartime currency.
