Original pre-war German publication titled The New Germany Desires Work and Peace, printed and published in Berlin by Liebheit & Thiesen. The book compiles a series of early 1933 speeches by Adolf Hitler, introduced by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, and translated into English for international distribution.

This publication was part of the Third Reich’s early campaign to present the new regime as peaceful and industrious to the outside world, emphasising Germany’s leadership as focused on reconstruction and national renewal. The book includes an officially approved portrait of Hitler by Heinrich Hoffmann, the regime’s official photographer.

Historical Context

Published shortly after Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor, this volume was produced as an effort aimed at improving Germany’s diplomatic image. It sought to reassure foreign nations of peaceful intentions, even as the regime began consolidating control at home. Today, it serves as a stark example of early political messaging from 1933, before the full militarisation of later years.
