Original 1939 German Finance Office (Finanzamt) document detailing the quarterly tax return for Fussball-Club “Bayern” e.V., the official Bayern Munich football club. Issued by the Finanzamt Hof (Bavaria) and dated October 9, 1939, this document records a tax return of 471 Reichsmarks for the third quarter of the year, shortly after the outbreak of the Second World War.

Typed on official government stationery titled “Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung” (Sales Tax Pre-Declaration), it features the club’s wartime address on Adolf-Hitler-Strasse and official signatures and notations from the local tax authority.

Historical Context

This document offers a rare glimpse into the economic administration of sports organisations during the early war years. Even as the country transitioned into wartime footing, businesses and clubs such as Bayern Munich remained subject to regular fiscal oversight under the Reich's tax system. Documents like this are seldom preserved due to their bureaucratic nature, making it an exceptional example of Third Reich-era civilian financial documentation tied to a major sports institution.

Condition

Good condition for age. Fold crease across the center and two punch holes from filing. Light handling wear and mild toning consistent with age. All text remains crisp and legible.
