Original Waffen-SS Sturmmann rank chevron, officially designated for tropical and southern front service. Constructed from black wool with golden-yellow tresse, this example was intended for use on tropical tunics and pea-dot camouflage jackets worn in Italy, the Balkans, and North Africa. The chevron denoted the junior enlisted rank of Sturmmann—equivalent to a Private First Class.
The Sturmmann rank was used across Waffen-SS units, typically given to soldiers after six months of service. Tropical variants like this were worn by troops stationed in Southern Europe and North Africa, including elements of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring Division, adapting to the warmer climates with lighter uniform materials.
Good used condition with minor fraying at edges. Stitching remains tight and the golden tresse retains strong colour.
