An original enamelled lapel badge issued to members of the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross), dating to the WW1 period or early post-war years. These small badges were worn on civilian clothing to identify registered DRK personnel and volunteers involved in wartime medical aid, convalescent care, and humanitarian support.
The Deutsches Rotes Kreuz played a major role during the First World War, supplying nurses, ambulance workers, and medical volunteers to both front-line and home-front hospitals. Badges like this were issued to legitimate members to show affiliation and allow access to medical stations and support posts.
Fair condition for its age. Enamel front remains presentable with some light wear. Reverse shows natural patina, age spots, and oxidation from long-term storage. The original pin is still fitted and functional.
