Original Austrian First World War veteran ribbon bar representing six separate decorations, mounted for post-war wear. This example reflects the service record of a decorated Austro-Hungarian veteran and remains a strong period piece suitable for display, research, or uniform grouping.

Historical Context

Following the First World War, veterans of the Austro-Hungarian Army commonly wore ribbon bars representing their wartime decorations on civilian attire or veteran uniforms. Multi-award ribbon bars such as this example typically include combinations of the Military Merit Medal, Karl Troop Cross, Bravery Medals, War Service Medals, and commemorative decorations issued during or shortly after the conflict.

Six-award groupings indicate extended service, front-line participation, or recognition for merit and conduct during the 1914–1918 Great War. Such mounted ribbon bars were professionally assembled and worn during interwar veteran events and commemorations throughout Austria and former imperial territories.

Condition

Ribbons remain intact with strong colour retention across all six awards. Light age wear and minor fraying are visible along the edges, consistent with period wear. Reverse mounting hardware is present and functional, showing age-related surface oxidation. Overall, a well-preserved original veteran-mounted example.
