Original Imperial German enlisted man’s leather belt complete with its Prussian “Gott Mit Uns” buckle, dated 1916 on the buckle tongue. This is a genuine wartime example with the buckle period-attached to the belt, showing honest service wear and strong character throughout.
During the First World War, German soldiers were issued leather belts fitted with state-specific buckles. The Prussian pattern bore the crowned Imperial cipher surrounded by the motto “Gott Mit Uns” (“God With Us”), a long-standing Prussian military slogan. By 1916, wartime production was in full effect, and such belts were standard field equipment worn by infantry and support troops alike across all fronts.
The buckle design reflects Imperial German authority, while the leather belt formed a crucial part of the soldier’s marching order, supporting ammunition pouches and field gear.
The steel buckle retains clear detail to the crowned device and motto, with even age toning consistent with field use. The leather belt remains supple and structurally sound, showing honest wear, surface patina, and period stitching. Stamped size “100,” shortened to an actual length of approximately 95 cm. No significant structural damage.
